Collaborating with Basil Hall Editions

For more than 20 years Merrepen Arts has been working with master printmaker Basil Hall and in this time we have produced dozens of beautiful and collectable limited edition prints.

You can view a selection in our online store here.

Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year.

Members of Merrepen Arts have created the artwork for prints during such workshops. These have been held onsite in Nauiyu and also in Basil's studio.

Many of the early prints are etchings. More recently artists have been working with different techniques and creating  collagraphs and collagraph/screenprints.

In 2025 we went through our drawers, took stock of our prints and commissioned a professional photographer to take high quality images of them. These have now been uploaded to our website and are available to browse. You'll find a mix of older prints and some wonderful recent ones that haven't been seen before.
