Troy is a young artist from the  Ngan’gikurrunggurr language group.

Troy Mardigan has a strong connection to his  (deceased) grandmother’s artistic and cultural legacy. He learned how to paint from his late grandmother when he was a young boy. His grandmother was an important artist and cultural knowledge custodian, and she heavily influenced his style and subject matter. He creates art using traditional stories and styles that reflect the teachings he received from her.Troy integrates traditional stories and styles with his Christian faith, using his understanding of the Scriptures as inspiration for some of his paintings. His artworks often relate to the land, community, and events in Nauiyu, such as a collaborative mural depicting the 2015 Boxing Day flood, where he and other artists told the story of the event.
